I think it’s important to seek inspiration from all art forms. Taking a scene from a film or a mood from a painting and flipping it into something musical is a practice that can sometimes lead to ideas that you wouldn’t otherwise think of.
Next To You started off as just another love song but somehow found it’s place as a sort of ode to French romantic films. The song always felt very cinematic to me, I think we were really inspired by Sean Brown’s work on our short film. The European backdrop really brought the Call Me When You Hear This Song EP to life and the aesthetic eventually found its way back into the music. We loved the idea of a song set in a specific place and Paris just felt right.
