We'd been working creatively as a group for a couple years before Those Eyes came to be. When I think back to that time, it really does feel like yesterday. It's crazy to see how much we've evolved since then. I remember being on that couch at the cottage when the guitar chords were first played, and how quickly and naturally it all came together. I think it came naturally because it's such a perfect embodiment of our collective inspirations. It was really the first song we had written that felt timeless and genuinely special. There are certain songs or moments that groups have that give them a greater understanding of who they are and what they could be, and this song was the birth of that feeling. The same feeling I think we still try to capture when we write today.
